Associate Attorney

Lewis Business & Estate Planning, APC (LBEP) is a boutique estate, tax, and business law firm located in the South Coast Metro area. LBEP is currently seeking an associate-level attorney with 2-5 years of estate and business planning experience. The Firm’s estate planning and corporate transactional practice is growing, and we are seeking a motivated, hard-working, and entrepreneurial attorney to service new and existing clients and assist with further development of the Firm’s estate and business planning practice. The ideal applicant is a dynamic, solutions-oriented and business-minded attorney who is eager to take on new challenges. Position offers competitive compensation and benefits.

Responsibilities:

  • Handling a variety of legal matters related to estates, trust, business, and tax law
  • Entity formation
  • Meeting with clients and advising on corporate governance, entity structuring, tax, and business succession issues
  • Preparing and reviewing contracts, business filings, tax documents and other business matters
  • Structuring mergers and acquisitions
  • Drafting and reviewing business contracts
  • Drafting and reviewing estate planning documents
  • Trust and estate administration
  • Assisting with content writing and editing
  • Business development including networking regularly with other service professionals (i.e. CPA’s, insurance, and financial advisors)

Requirements:

  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Active member in good standing of the California Bar
  • 2-5 years of experience in trust & estate planning
  • Ability to interact comfortably and professionally with clients; strong drafting skills; exceptional interpersonal skills; highly collaborative and team-oriented
  • Strong work ethic; excellent legal research and writing skills
  • Commitment to professionalism and client service; ownership mentality
  • Ability to manage complicated business and estate planning transactions
  • Strong commitment to detail and exceptional work product
  • Strong decision-making and critical thinking skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Lexis or Westlaw, Excel and Word
